Our experience in this sector goes back to be members of the drafting team of the current Electricity Law (Law No. 1604 dated December 21st, 1994) and its regulations.

We have detailed knowledge of this sector in Bolivia, including the National Interconnected System (SIN) and the main isolated systems.

The regulatory agencies for electricity in Bolivia (Superintendencia de Electricidad and Superintendencia General del SIRESE) hire our services on a case-by-case basis in regard to complex regulatory energy matters.
Since many years ago we are counsel to Empresa de Electricidad Valle Hermoso S.A., covering all its legal services requirements. We are lawyers of the Ingelec Group, LLC, a group of energy companies located in Bolivia, Chile and Brazil.

We constantly assess the Bolivian Administration policies in regard to the energy sector, including tariffs, eventual nationalizations or expropriator attempts and related emerging litigations, covering administrative, constitutional and bilateral investments treaties matters.

We obtained various licenses and concessions under the Electricity Superintendence for diverse clients.

We constantly provide legal advice to our clients on regulatory matters, including, if necessary, litigating administrative, judicial and constitutional matters.

Without prejudice of this intense activity, we are very careful to avoid any conflict of interest. To this effect, we perform a very careful case selection process.

Significant transactions:

• We assessed the Bolivian Administration on the capitalization process of Empresa Eléctrica Corani SAM, Empresa Eléctrica Valle Hermoso SAM and Empresa Eléctrica Guaracachi SAM.

• We advised the Bolivian Administration on the privatization process of Transportadora de Electricidad TDE S.A. and the electricity distribution company ELFEC S.A.

• We negotiated a joint venture agreement with ENDE for building and operating the electricity transmission line Caranavi - Trinidad on behalf of our client Ingelec S.A.

• We negotiated electricity sales agreements on behalf of our client Valle Hermoso S.A., to provide electricity to Minera San Cristóbal S.A., the largest consumer in Bolivia.

• We advised Prefectura de Tarija in a number of projects to provide electricity to the Department of Tarija, including new power plants and electricity lines.
